Frequently Asked Questions
- Are you a retailer or wholesaler?
-
I am a maker focused on wholesale. This means that I sell my work to professional Piercers and their studios who then share my pieces directly with their clients.
I do sell limited pieces directly to clients a couple times a year through my GIVE 100 program which takes place during my wholesale 2 Day Launch windows. Clients who purchase direct from me at this time are essentially donating 100% of the retail price they spend on my site to handpicked non-profit organizations. You will need to follow me on Instagram for communication on when those launch windows are taking place.
*In the future I will feature a small rotating collection of designs that will be offered directly to clients. These designs will be focused on fun fancy things, as well as one-of-a-kind items that I feel excited to make and are ultimately not intended to be offered/produced at a larger scale.
- Why don’t you sell your collection directly to clients all the time?
-
I prefer not to “compete” with all the awesome piercers and piercing studio spaces who support me throughout the year. Also, they truly are the best ones suited to supporting you full time when it comes to making your piercing & styling dreams come true. I feel very lucky as a maker to be able to put my new designs into the hands of tenured and skilled piercers who can then apply their expertise when sharing my collections with you.
- I’m looking for a specific piece, can you tell me where to find it?
-
Please visit my Stockists page for detailed information on where to get ahold of my work. I personally do not have access to individual studios inventory, so I recommend visiting their webstores for current availability of any items.
On my Stockist page you will find additional helpful tips on finding spaces who have the collection periodically through the year that you can also shop with during launch windows.
- Do you do custom work?
-
I used to! I do not anymore for a variety of reasons, but by far the biggest reason is time constraints. Custom requests require a high volume of communication that I used to navigate which ultimately negatively impacted my ability to focus on the design process for new collections.
The good news is that during launches I typically offer a raffle that allows you to win custom focus feature makeovers by me. All focus feature raffle ticket sales are also donated as a part of the GIVE 100 program I mentioned in an earlier question. The pieces you will receive as the winner of the raffle is a dealers choice situation though! If you win, I will get feedback on your preferences but will ultimately take that information and apply it into something totally special and specific to you that is mailed out as a surprise. Often, it is even modifying future designs that haven’t launched yet. Anytime you see custom stuff mentioned it is for the winners of these various raffles I offer. The other custom items I make are a part of random giveaways I do for fun occasionally through Instagram.
- I’m a Piercer and we would love to carry your line in my studio, can I set up a wholesale account?
-
I have 3 wholesale buying opportunities:
Year Round Stockists
2 Day Launch Access
APP in VegasEach of these work together in strange and mysterious ways. Lol.
I recommend reading through the breakdowns of all 3 just to understand a bit more about how I work. :)YEAR ROUND ACCOUNTS: This type of account is by invite only. It is just not feasible or realistic for me to maintain a large amount of accounts throughout the year at this point in time. My Stockist list is currently filled with folks who are very passionate about Pupil and are committed to stocking the full collection all year. No one on that list is cherry picking designs, which means they are offering everything currently available to them on a consistent basis.
*Please Note* As I continue to grow and evolve Pupil Hall, I consistently advocate that you do not encourage other larger brands & smaller brands/designers to make variations or outright copy my designs. This impacts the piercing community’s ability to have increased access to my work. This purchasing behavior and outlook is a short-sided way of thinking. As you all are aware, many companies and manufacturers (both large, small, and independent) already have a HUGE catalogue for you to choose from. I urge you to support their original designs so you do not negatively impact the smaller makers and their ideas you’ve come to love. There are times when I have had to STOP production on a natural variation of one of my original designs because of companies who take one of my designs, make the slightest modification, and begin selling that design as their own. It is very costly and also very unsettling to have to pull production on a very natural variation of your design due to someone prematurely absorbing your aesthetic. Ultimately, this behavior from makers affects your ability to have the piece that would have come naturally from Pupil Hall. I know y’all are familiar with which pieces those are because I am often tagged incorrectly or mentioned as the maker of these pieces… :) !
2 DAY LAUNCH ACCESS:
*Waitlist is FULL, no longer accepting inquiries.*
I do open up greater access a few times a year to a much larger group of studios and piercers who can shop with me during this 2 Day Launch window. During these launch windows approved studios are able to stock up with the bulk quantities they need to support their spaces for longer periods of time. At this time the waitlist for my 2 Day Launches is full. I am now operating by an invite only approach. Those already formally placed on the waitlist will still be considered for future launches. <3
APP IN VEGAS: During the APP conference, there is no pre-approval process to be able to shop with Pupil. During this time you are welcome to come by the booths and pickup whatever you like! You will also leave conference with your order as I do not ship unclaimed orders. Conference is a great way for me to get to know you and gain an understanding of the demand you have in your studios for the collection. I know most likely I will not have an opportunity to interact with everyone one on one, but that is understandable as you all severely outnumber me as a single individual! My team is very good at sharing their detailed feedback regarding how they were treated by folks at the booth while they were assisting them. They also pay close attention to how people are treating other visitors who are present in the booth.
Please be aware I do understand visiting APP is not realistic or necessary for everyone. I have quite a few studios who are in the 2 Day Launches or are permanent who may or may not make it to conference each year. This means APP participation or “how much you spend” is not how access to Pupil Hall is gained.
